One million people who worked in crowded areas in UK will be trained  about how to rescue themselves during the terrorist attack. This plan was announced by the National police Chiefs Council. In terms of this plan, the people who is responsible for training will pass the terror response training to their colleagues. This plan involved all workers who worked in public limited companies such as entertainment company and sports company.  Police thought that everyone should be conscious about this kind of events. However they do not  want people worry about this thing too much.

As we all know that UK is plan to hold a referendum on 23 June whether Britain should leave or stay in the European Union.  The terrorist attack also has an impact on this referendum. The people who want to leave European Union believed that staying in European Union is dangerous. As we all know that, every country  trying their best to protect their country and citizens.However, it still cannot be proved that terrorist attack will never happened again.

In some ways，terrorist attack is similar to the earthquake.These sudden events not only make the people who survived hurt but also has a psychological impact on them. Actually, terrorism itself  wished to arouse people’s fear of death too. This is the aim of these terrorists .

In the past, there are some examples could strongly prove that terrorist attack has a significant impact on ordinary people including the people at the scene and the people who watched it on TV. For example, in the Paris attack, one man saw his sister died. Even until now, he still confused by the memory. He cannot give himself an answer why he alive but his sister died. However, there are some treatments for PTSD nowadays. Firstly,  psychological intervention is important in the early period. In  this period, Friend and family members are most important people for the patients. In the first place,  family members and friends should give them support in emotion aspects. Comforting them and accompanying them.  In addition, they should give necessary help in their daily life such as the financial help. Apart from that,  drug treatment is also an important therapy.

Even though everyone hope there will not happen terrorist attack again, it still cannot be proved now. If someone really occurred this type of event, they should focus on their psychology and ask help for the professional doctor if necessary.

Brussels police kill gunman who linked to Paris attack-the latest news about Paris attack

Paris has become a peaceful place again and hope it will not be frightening anymore.

Until now, it’s almost 4 months since the Paris attack happened. Even now, not all terrorists were caught.

The Paris attack happened on the night of Friday 13 November. This terrorist attack was carried out by ISIS. The gunman and suicide bombers attacked a concert hall, a major stadium, restaurants and bars almost at the same time. 130 people were killed because of the terrorist attack,  around 400 people wounded. These people came from 26 countries. The France tourism and economy were influenced by Paris attack. Many tourist spots were closed because of Paris attack.

Yesterday,  a suspect who carried out the terrorist attack was killed by the Brussels police, at least one still at large after an anti- terror raid which took place in southern Brussels. At about 2.30pm, the joint French and Belgian anti-terrorism squad found their traces in the south-west of Brussels. After that, two gunfire happened in the afternoon. The second one was heard after 6.pm. Four police officers were wounded during the firefight with  the terrorists.

On 12th March, a list of the ISIS terrorists was leaked out by the media. Most media believed that the list leak because the ISIS lack of money in recent days. Three terrorists whom implemented the Paris attack are on the list too. There are Samy Aimimor, Omar Ismail Mostefai and Foued Mohamed-Aggad respectively.

Actually, the list included 22000 terrorists information. Some people didn’t believe this list. However, Thomas De Maiziere who has served as the Federal Minister of the interior said that these documents are trusted. Thomas believed that they can sue the ISIS by using this document and prevent them from employing new people. In addition, Theresa May who is a British Conservative Party politician said that ISIS is a big threat,  every country should collaborate with each other. Bernard Cazeneuve who is a minister of the France Interior said that they are interested in these information, however, the list should be proved is true at first.

It is clear that even the Paris attack happened a few months ago, it is still a hot issue in the whole world. Not only the terrorists who were caught, but also the France economy.  As we all know that France’s economy was supported by tourism mainly. Obviously, terrorist attack has badly reduced financial revenues of France even influence Europe. However, I believe this situation will not last long.  The reasons are simple. Firstly,  the investors have confidence in France. It shows clearly from the stock market.   Secondly,  terrorist attack cannot influence the restaurant and bar in a long period because the consumers have their own consume habits. If the amount of people who eat at outside is going down, it must be temporary. Next, all the places have the possibility of becoming dangerous,  if the people will not choose to travel to France anymore, they cannot choose other countries too due to the possibility of being dangerous. Yesterday,  a terrorist attack occurred in the Turkish capital city. Actually, this terrorist attack is not the first time in this year. Why Turkey was attacked by terrorists always in recent years? It is a question should be discussed. At the same time, it is an issue should be paid attention to.

Turkey is a country which crosses two continents.  The Asians could choose the land route through Turkey to the Europe.  Because of its importance in the route, it became a country with lots of different cultures. In addition,  Turkey is a country with a long history. There are many religions in Turkey  (Stanley, 1888). If we want to analyze why Turkey is dangerous , Turkey’s location and its history, maybe are important reasons should be attached importance to. On 12th January 2016,  a terrorist attack occurred in Istanbul. The ISIS carried out the attack in the Sultanment district. It is close to the famous building-Blue Mosque. 10 people were killed because of the suicide bomb attack, at least 8 of them are German tourists. Fifteen people were wounded, many of them also German. The Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey is top target for all terrorist groups in the region nowadays. When the terrorist attack occurred, the ambulance got there at once. The police protected the place at the same time.  After that, the German government released the notice that Turkey is still dangerous and the tourists should try to avoid going to places of interest.

Yesterday evening, a car bomb has exploded in the Turkish capital Ankara. 34 people were killed and wounding about 130. The explosion happened in the Kizilay district-downtown, a key transport and commercial area. Until now,  no group has yet claimed the attack.  A witness called Dogan said to journalists of The independent that the car drove passed them and then bombed.  The place where occurred the terrorist attack just 150 meters away from the turkey president palace. Some people believed that this terrorist attack is targeting the public. The aim is a warning. However, the other people hold different views. When this terrorist attack happened, the Austrian ambassador in Turkey is close to the place where be attacked. He thought that the attack is not targeting him, but targeting the Turkish Police. A lot of countries publish their opinions about this event today.  Chinese government condemned this event strongly.  At the same time, they issued travel advice to Chinese citizens who are willing to travel to Turkey.

Actually, apart from this terrorist attack which happened yesterday, Turkey was attacked many times during this year such as two suicide bomb attacks in the capital city in October, 2015 and the attack which happened at the Syria-Turkey border. Why do most people believe that Turkey is more dangerous than other countries? The reasons are complex.  However, there are three reasons are most important. Firstly, they have ethnic and religious conflict in their own country. Secondly, Turkey became the hub that the people who want to transport something from other places to ISIS.  Finally, the problem about the Kurds is tough and historical. It cannot be solved in a short term.  In a conclusion, in the past, Turkey is a wonderful place for travelling and living but not anymore today. All of us are hoping Turkey will not be frightening in the future.

Terrorism should not be the most important issue in people’s daily life.

On Thursday 4th February 2016,  Project Syndicate published a new article which wrote by Joseph S. Nye, a former US assistant secretary of defense and chairman of the US National Intelligence Council & a University Professor at Harvard University. The article title is 5 truths about terrorism.

The article could be divided into three parts.  First of all, it  introduced the influence of terrorism in the US. In his opinion, “American politics has been captured by terrorists.” The polls which did in December 2015 showed that one in six Americans, some 16% of the population, now identify terrorism as the most important national problem, up from just 3% in the previous month.  This became the highest percentage of Americans to mention terrorism in a decade. The US presidential election will occur in this year. The change of public opinion, even influence the election. A clear example can be seen in Donald Trump. Is UK a good choice for international students at present?

Nowadays, most places in the world are frighetning

In recent years,  an increasing number of international students chose to study in the western countries such as America and the UK. There are several reasons why international students wanted to study in Western Countries. First of all, they have more professors who are the world’s leading academics in this area. Secondly, their industry is more mature than others countries. It means that the student could benefit from training informed by research into the latest developments in media theory and practice. Lastly, their environments is more international. The students could broaden their horizons.

However, these countries became dangerous nowadays. A clear example can be seen in the US. A Chinese student was shot by an American woman  on 16th January, 2016. Is the UK safer than the US?It is a difficult question to answer right now. From the end of last year, the ISIS post twitter which said they will attack London during the Christmas holiday.  Many experts believed that ISIS likely to target Christams shoppers in next terror attack on Britain after Paris. 

Even though it did not happen in the last year during the Christmas holiday, the UK still happen some special events such as the event in Gatwick airport.  A French man threw a gun into a bin as he fled EasyJet check-in. The Gatwick airport was closed a few hours because this urgent issue.

At the same time, many international students feel scared because of the rumor when they traveled to London during Christmas holiday.

Could FBI force Apple to unlock iPhones?

A terrorist attack occurred in the United States on 2nd December, 2015. Farook and his wife killed 14 people in the California city before police fatally shot them.

The police get Frook’s iPhone, but they  cannot unlock it. Because of  the government do not have the authority to command the organization, the police ask help from the Court. The Los Angeles court evaluated the whole event and then asked Apple to unlock iPhone.  

However, the apple boss Tim Cook refused to cooperate with a US government to unlock an iPhone. At the same time,  the Apple CEO called for the Department of Justice to withdraw its order. Tim Cook believed that at stake is the data security of hundreds of millions of law-abiding people and setting a dangerous precedent that threatens everyone’s civil liberties. He gave two reasons why he cannot help. First of all, Apple tried their best to protect customer’s privacy for several years. If there are exceptions,  their hard-working will be wasted. In the next place,  if they helped the government this time, it will tell others the iPhone can be unlocked by specific program. Other people such as hackers can use this program to unlock too. It means that all iPhone users maybe will lose their privacy. Due to these reasons, Apple wants to explain all situations to Obama. In addition, Apple has prepared already that stick to their opinions, even though they should appeal to the Supreme Court of the United States.

The Apple and FBI began the debate since they hold different views. The debate way is a hearing in front of the House Judiciary Committee.

Many biggest names in technology -including eBay, Google and Amazon have joined Twitter and AirBnB in backing Apple in its court battle with the FBI. Apple Company even gave a list that who support them on their own website. On 29th February, 2016,  James Ornstein, a federal judge in Brooklyn, said that Apple doesn’t have to unlock drug dealer’s iPhone.

It is worth mentioning that the government in America seems has different views on the same event. Last year, China has passed a new anti-terrorism laws in order to combat growing threats. But the law was controversial  in the whole world, especially in the US. The most important reason is a new rule in the law.  The new rule is that  telecommunications and internet providers will have to “provide technical support and assistance,including decryption”, and will be made to “prevent dissemination of information” on extremism. The United States Department of State worried that their  enterprise and telecommunications should obey the rule as well.  It means that their company should provide consumer’s information to the government in some cases.  However, until now,  the special case did not appear in China. On the contrary, it happened in the US. It is noticeable that why they have different standards on the same events. It is an interesting case that should be discussed. On the one hand, the consumer trust their telecommunication company, for the reason that the company should protect the consumer’s privacy. Additionally,  privacy is a part of human rights, no matter which government is,  they should respect the citizen’s human rights.  On the other hand,  if occurs special situations such as the terrorist attack. Most people died or injured because of the terrorist attack.  From the emotional perspective, the telecommunications maybe should help the police if they really need.

Could FBI force Apple to unlock iPhone. It is still a really difficult question. The final answer still need to wait. But should they hold different views on the same thing? This answer still needs to be examined.

China implementing publicity campaign for anti-terror law in the whole country

Many places in China conducted  a publicity campaign about anti-terrorism law, especially Beijing and Guangxi province.

At the end of last year, China has passed new anti- terrorism laws by China’s legislature. The enforcement of law started from 1st January 2016. The law gives a broad definition of terrorism. At the same time, it gave the government new censorship powers and authorized state access to sensitive commercial data. 

Under the new law, China will set up a new organization which in charge of terrorist activities and personnel, and coordinate nationwide anti-terrorist work. Moreover, there are some new measures will be taken. First of all, telecommunications and internet providers should provide technical support and assistance, including decryption, and will be made to “prevent dissemination of information.”on extremism. In addition, police forces can now use weapons directly in “emergency circumstances” when facing attackers with guns or knives. Apart from that, the military can now use venture overseas on counter-terrorism operations.

Because this law is new, most of people are unfamiliar with the law.  In order to publicize the laws, many places in different provinces across China  developing publicize activity. Beijing police hold competitions on their own wechat platform. The competition is a quiz. Citizens can search the “Beijing anti-terrorism” on the wechat  and then participate the quiz. The quiz will publish every Tuesday. When the end of the quiz, the police will choose 10 people from the participants and give them a prize.  Most participants thought the event was meaningful.  By this quiz, they can raise their awareness of terrorism, and know that anti-terrorism need everyone. From the enforcement of this new law, Beijing police conducted different kinds of publicity campaign not only quiz but also publicize by the media. At the same time, Beijing Police rewards the people who report the anti- terrorism event according to the law. Guangxi province also conducts publicity campaign of the anti-terrorism law. Because some places in Guangxi, such as Chongzuo city is national boundaries, they believed they should focus anti-terrorism more than other places. They set  March as a publicity month as the anti-terrorism law.

The vice-chairman of Guangxi said  all cities in Guangxi should organize the publicity campaign well.  They should publicize in different places, including communities, schools, enterprises and other places. They should publicize by different ways, such as art shows,” police open day”.  They believed that the people will have a more comprehensive understanding of anti-terrorism law and anti-terrorism knowledge by this way. Additionally, the governments in different cities should make full use of traditional media, for example, open a special column for this publicity campaign.
